School will be starting soon. Families will begin thinking about school clothes, new teachers, special activities…..and school supplies. Many families in our area struggle financially. Project SOS (Supply Our Schools) is in the 25th year of helping children with basic supplies. Buying school supplies can be difficult for a lot of families, What used to be crayon and paper has turned into flash drives, backpacks, and expo markers. The cost of the items can be daunting for many families – many children come to school with nothing.
Project SOS helps provide basic school supplies to needy children across Nacogdoches County. In 2016, Project SOS assisted students attending Garrison ISD, Douglass ISD, Woden ISD, Cushing ISD, Martinsville ISD,Chireno ISD, Central Heights ISD, Etoile School and Nacogdoches ISD as well as the Family Crisis Center of East Texas Women’s Shelter.
Our Mission Committee again asks you to help by providing supplies and/or financial contributions to Project SOS.
Look for the large yellow box in the church library and deposit your items in the box. Suggested items: crayons, notebook paper, folders with pockets, binders, spiral notebooks, pencil boxes, erasers, regular markers, Expo markers (dry erase markers), colored pencils, glue sticks, journal notebooks, #2 pencils, black and red pens, boxes of tissue, baby wipes, and children’s scissors.
Financial contributions can be mailed to the church office or placed in the offering plate. Please write “School Supplies” on the memo line of your check.
Thanks for helping each year with this project that MAKES A DIFFERENCE for the children of Nacogdoches County.
