Living on the Edge (1 Peter 1:17-23)

Pastor Steve NewtonPastor Steve Newton, November 13, 2016
Part of the 1 Peter series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Christians are to go back into the world, back to their friends, and be a part of their lives. They are to go back and serve God through their God given vocations. But now when they go back into their world they are to imitate the character of God revealed in Jesus Christ, as we do when we live as aliens in the world. In our vocation, in our home, in our civic life, we are to imitate the character of Jesus Christ.

THE INVITATION TO MEMBERSHIP at Westminster Church is always open to persons who wish to join us in witness and service to Jesus Christ. If you are interested in church membership or desire more information about this congregation, please call 936-564-0203.

1 Peter 1:17-23

17And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: 18Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, 21Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. 22Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
