At Westminster Presbyterian Church, we strive to help every member find a place to serve the church that truly ministers to the heart. If you have questions about any of these or would like to participate, please call the church office at 936-564-0203.
Committees
A large part of being Presbyterian is that we govern ourselves. Our church leadership is made up of a Session of Elders and seven committees that guide the various aspects of our church.
Ushers
Ushers are members of the church who volunteer on Sunday mornings to greet worshipers; help our visitors with any questions they may have and point them in the right direction if they need to locate the nursery, restrooms, or the sanctuary; pass out church bulletins; seat worshipers; and take up the offering.
Acolytes
Beginning at age seven, children of Westminster may assist in Worship by being an Acolyte. Acolytes carry the light that represents Christ’s presence into our sanctuary during our service of worship.
Ministry for the Sick and Shut-Ins
Members of our church who are hospitalized, in nursing homes or homebound receive regular visits from church members.
Homebound Communion Service
The communion elements that are served on Communion Sunday during the worship service are extended to those isolated from the community’s worship. To serve the elements one must be an ordained officer of the church. If you know of someone who is a shut-in or unable to attend worship service because of an illness or other circumstance please contact the church office. Communion is served the first Sunday of each month.
Ride to Church
Members of our church may assist those who need rides to Sunday services and other functions during the week.
Working with Children and Youth
A large ministry of our church involves working with the children and youth of Westminster. We rely on volunteers to teach Sunday School classes and assist with other functions.
