Children in Worship

childrenIt is important that our children understand they are included in our worship, yet we understand that it may be difficult for children to listen to a 20-minute sermon preached on an adult level. For this reason we have a special time for young disciples during our worship experience. We want parents to feel welcome to bring their children to worship, and if their children are loud and disruptive; we understand that we are simply hearing the voices of the future of the church.

Time for Young Disciples
Time for Young Disciples is part of our morning worship. Children are invited to the front of the church for a small, focused lesson from Pastor Kallie or Whitney Frazier.

Communion and Children
From time to time, either in Sunday School or during children’s choir practice our pastor will teach a short unit on the Lord’s Supper to our children. We understand that our children will not completely understand the meaning of the Lord’s Supper; however, as baptized members of the church they are eligible to receive the sacrament.

At Westminster we leave it to the parent’s discretion as to when is the best time for their children to start receiving the sacrament. However, we discourage your child from receiving communion until they have received some instruction from our pastor, who is willing to visit in your home to speak with your child about the sacrament.

Nursery
We have one nursery available for young children up to five years old. The nursery is staffed by volunteers and is opened during Sunday school, during Worship and young children can join following the Time for Young Disciples.
